The sun is the source of that radiant, splendid light that pervades the universe. It enlightens our consciousness and illumines our hearts; it sustains and nurtures all of creation. It is the one source of power that is eternal, pure and provides what is needed for the entire animate and inanimate world. The amount of warmth, light, air and water required, be it a daisy, a tree, an ant, or man is provided unconditionally by the sun. At the moment man has moved away from the sun and nature. His life style in today’s concrete fast paced world leads to stress, ill health and emotional upheavals. Imbalances within the body in the chakras, nadis, colours, sounds, chemical composition among others are the precursors of disease. These imbalances can be balanced by practising Suryayog, a simple yet powerful discipline which connects man with nature. Suryayog is a prayer and meditation technique performed to the rising and setting sun which helps to transfer energy from the cosmos to the seven energy centres (chakras) in the body. Once balanced the chakras help to maintain the health of the organs and glands in the body. The tremendous pranic energy (life force) from the sun rejuvenates all glands and nadis (meridians). Photons (energy particles) in the sun’s rays help to smoothen and enlighten our body, prana, mind and spirit. The sun’s presence can change, arrange, reduce and remove imbalances, and organize the chemical, bio-electric and biomagnetic powers in living beings. Negative energy stored in the body in the process of daily living, by our emotions and thoughts (our own and those juxtaposed by others), is cleared out by this process. When there is a free flow of energy in the body then good health is assured. The rays of the sun acting on the subconscious and conscious mind can bring about revolutionary changes in human thinking. Suryayog strengthens the mind and the body, enabling it to withstand pressures and also in strengthening our immunity thus preventing diseases.
